This image shows a group of women in an exercise class called “Keep Fit” in 1968. It was sponsored by the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA),and the cost for membership in the PTA was $1.00. It was held once a week on Tuesday evenings at 8:00 p.m. in the Pitt Meadows Elementary School.
A newspaper article covered this story and reported that there was a gathering of "Keep Fit" exercise enthusiasts to show appreciation to Pat Williamson in Mrs. W. Bamsey’s home. Pat was celebrated because she organized and sustained the ladies’ Keep Fit sessions. For her contribution, she was presented a cut-glass salad bowl. The names of the women in the photo are as follows:
Back row: Pat Williamson, Wilma Bamsey, Doris Grant and Eileen Plummer.
Middle row: Mrs. Jongbloed, Virginia Wallin, Terry Vanderklok, Beryl Sharpe, Peggy Roraph and Adeline Neilsen.
Front row: Nellie Van Baal and Shirley Schmitz.
