These artifacts are three art prints. The first image is of the Earl of Chatham William Pitt in the House of Lords, the second image is a portrait of William Pitt, and the last image is of William Pitt in the house of Lords at the center. These prints were made from the original master plate over 100 years ago (with the second image being dated to the 1830’s). Pitt Meadows takes its name from the Pitt River and Pitt Lake, which were possibly named after former British Prime Minister William Pitt. The images are of William Pitt the Elder; however, it is his son William Pitt the Younger that we believe our city takes its name from. Both William Pitt the Elder and William Pitt the Younger served as Prime Ministers of the United Kingdom.
