Reeve Harold Albert Sutton was one of the partners in H.A. and L.M Sutton Construction, a Secretary of the Pitt Meadows Farmers’ Institute from 1928-1930, President of the Farmer’s Institute, an Alderman in Pitt Meadows for 14 years (1933 -1947),and a Reeve of Pitt Meadows for 17 years (1947-1965). During his years in office he worked to reduce the damages caused by the 1948 flood through the rebuilding of all the dykes, and the paving of most of the roads. He is remembered to have kept the taxes low. Pitt Meadows residents have reported that Harold Sutton was a main employer for young boys in the community. Upon his retirement he was presented with a eulogistic plaque. He died on February 24, 1973 at the age of 63.
