This photograph shows the tree in front of the Heritage Hall (Originally our Municipal Hall). Royal Oak Trees symbolize our connection to the Monarchy and this one was planted in commemoration of the coronation on May 12th, 1937 of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth (The Queen Mother). This tree was planted by Reeve William James Park. During the Coronation of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, many seedlings were sent out from the royal forest at Windsor Great Park to act as lasting reminders of the Coronation throughout the Commonwealth. This tree shows us that history is alive and well in Pitt Meadows, and can be hidden in everyday objects!
