Leonie Uriel, our 2016 Hoffmann Site Summer student.
My name is Leonie Uriel and I am one of the summer students working at the Pitt Meadows Museum this year. I live in Mission, and during the rest of the year, I attend the University of the Fraser Valley working towards a bachelor’s degree in fine arts, for which I will be in my third year this coming September. My job at the Museum is to take care of the Hoffmann site, which is a 1930s machine shop across the road from the main General Store site. The building, which was formerly owned by Hans Hoffmann, houses tractors, stationary motors, a lathe and a blacksmith’s forge, just to name a few things. This summer, I have been photographing, maintaining and accessioning the artifacts in the building, as well as greeting any guests who come by.
