The Pitt Meadows Museum is looking for an individual who is interested in programming for children and families and who may be thinking of pursuing a degree in education or recreation.
The position primarily focuses on developing, running and evaluating the Museum's annual Heritage Thursdays for Children programs that run July through mid-August each summer. The Programmer will also be involved in assisting with the Museum's Pitt Meadows Day booth on June 7th and planning for and running the Museum's Canada Day booth on July 1st. Working with Museum staff on other summer programs such as tours and any additional off-site activities we are asked to participate in is also part of the position. As we are a small facility, the Programmer, along with other staff, will take turns greeting the public at each of our two sites.
Time allowing, other Programmer duties will include looking at the condition of our hands-on teaching collection, including our children's toys area, to determine their state and what needs repairs and/or replacement. The Programmer will then research replacements and work with staff and volunteers on repairs, and, where required, do new hands-on tags and instructions cards.
The successful candidate is also encouraged to look at a task they may be interested in doing, or feels would add to the Museum's programs, and work on it as time allows.
Other related jobs also apply including: sharing maintenance duties such as vacuuming, garden watering, exhibit glass cleaning, etc. These duties are usually accomplished during slow times while on duty greeting the public or before/after a public tour.
Send Resume with cover letter to the attention of the Curator on or before May 5th at: pittmeadowsmuseum@telus.net
